A self-performing construction contractor across central and southwest Florida is actively hiring experienced heavy equipment mechanics. This is a direct-hire role with a leadership team that just overhauled their fleet operations and compensation structure to attract and retain top talent.
What You Will Run
You will service, maintain, and repair heavy equipment across multiple job sites and yard locations spanning Pasco, Citrus, and Manatee counties. Your first 3 to 6 months will be spent in the yard, where the team will assess your skill set and certifications. After that ramp period, you will transition to field technician work, supporting active construction operations.
This role offers unlimited overtime as long as you are productive. You will work 55 to 65 hours per week on average, with consistent work and no seasonal slowdowns typical of the construction industry.
What It Takes
- 1 to 8+ years of hands-on heavy equipment mechanic experience (Tech 1, Tech 2, or Tech 3 level)
- Detailed knowledge of the specific equipment you have worked on (excavators, dozers, loaders, compactors, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation and Benefits
Pay ranges from $26 per hour to $40 per hour depending on experience level and certification. The contractor recently raised their standard Tech 1 rates to a minimum of $27 per hour, reflecting their commitment to competitive wages in a market where pay has historically lagged.
