The Role
Our client is a nationally recognized, top 75 heavy civil and industrial general contractor seeking an experienced Estimator to join their North Carolina team. This is a hands-on position where you will own the accuracy and completeness of bid packages for highway, bridge, mining, and rail projects across the region. You will work directly with operations, ownership, and engineering partners to deliver competitive, detailed estimates that win work and set projects up for success.
What You Will Run
- Detailed quantity take-offs from plans, specifications, and engineering documents using industry-standard software.
- Computer-aided estimating and earthwork analysis, including site condition verification and construction method review.
- Production-based cost development and bid document preparation.
- Construction schedule support and proposal development for regional pursuits.
- Pre-bid site visits and investigations to inform accurate estimates.
- Transition support to operations teams on awarded projects.
- Safety integration into all estimating work and processes.
What It Takes
- 3 to 7 years of heavy highway construction estimating experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent field experience.
- Proficiency in HCSS or similar estimating software, Agtek or similar earthwork programs, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of Primavera scheduling software.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to multitask across multiple pursuits.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders including owners, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, and team-oriented mindset.
Compensation and Benefits
$90,000 to $110,000 per year, based on experience.
