Safety Manager – Augusta, Georgia
A self-performing heavy civil and specialty contractor is hiring a Safety Manager to lead safety operations across multiple active projects in the Augusta area. This is a field-heavy role with real autonomy, managing crews, subs, and complex safety protocols on sites with cranes, excavation, and specialized equipment. What You Will Run
- Manage safety across up to 4 concurrent projects, with primary responsibility for crew documentation, compliance, and daily hazard management
- Work directly with project supervisors and subcontractors to enforce safety standards and resolve issues in real time
- Oversee crane operations, excavation work, and confined space protocols on active job sites
- Conduct safety training and education for crews across multiple trades, including heavy equipment operators and iron workers
- Maintain safety records, incident documentation, and OSHA compliance using digital tools and field tablets
- Spend 80-90% of your time in the field, 10-20% in the office
What It Takes
- 5-8 years of hands-on safety management experience in heavy civil or specialty construction
- OSHA 30, OSHA 510, and OSHA 500 certifications required
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
- CHST certification preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and mobile field management platforms
- Bilingual capability is a plus
- Willingness to work Monday through Friday, 7am to 5pm, with occasional Saturday work due to weather delays
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within a 30-mile radius of the Augusta area
