A self-performing heavy civil contractor is actively hiring an experienced Project Manager to lead Department of Transportation infrastructure projects in Florida. This is a hands-on role managing complex roadway and transportation work from preconstruction through closeout, with real P&L responsibility and direct field leadership. What You Will Run

  • DOT roadway and infrastructure projects from planning through final closeout.
  • Project budgets, schedules, contracts, and overall financial performance.
  • Coordination between superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep work moving.
  • Compliance with state DOT specifications, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Review of plans, specifications, and project documents to guide field execution.
  • Cost forecasting, change order management, and budget accountability.
  • Communication with owners, inspectors, and project stakeholders throughout delivery.
  • Project meetings, schedule reporting, and regular progress updates to leadership.
  • Procurement support, subcontractor coordination, and resource planning.

What It Takes

  • 7+ years of heavy civil construction project management experience.
  • Proven track record managing DOT transportation or roadway construction projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of DOT specifications, contracts, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage schedule, cost control, and field coordination simultaneously.
  • Experience reading construction drawings and managing project documentation.
  • Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that work in the field.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Preferred: background in highway, paving, bridge, or infrastructure work; experience with DOT inspectors and regulatory agencies; proficiency in construction management software.

Compensation and Benefits

$110,000 to $140,000 per year, plus competitive benefits including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. Long-term opportunity with a growing contractor focused on transportation infrastructure.
