Our client, a self-performing contractor specializing in highway and bridge construction, is hiring a Project Engineer to support major state road projects in the Orlando area. This is an immediate need with real growth potential as new project phases launch this summer. If you have 2-3 years in DOT construction and want to own multiple scopes from day one, this role moves fast.
What You Will Run
You will coordinate field operations across active highway and bridge projects while managing the documentation and logistics that keep everything moving. This is not a single-discipline role. You will touch structures, earthwork, drainage systems, and preconstruction planning. Your day includes:
- Managing submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
- Coordinating daily construction activities with field teams and project management
- Supporting plan reviews, permitting, and mobilization for new project phases
- Ensuring compliance with DOT standards and project specifications
- Tracking subcontractor performance and schedule adherence
- Providing engineering support across bridges, retaining walls, earthwork, and drainage
You will work across multiple disciplines and collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other engineers. Early hires have the opportunity to onboard on an active segment (approximately 1 year remaining) and transition into upcoming project work starting June-July.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 2-3+ years of construction experience, preferably highway and/or bridge construction and DOT projects
- Strong understanding of construction processes and project lifecycle
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across different scopes
- Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt across project areas
- Experience in structures is preferred but not required
Compensation and Details
Salary range: $80,000 – $120,000, depending on experience and potential. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. Resume review happens within 24 hours.
