Estimator – Charlotte, NC
A self-performing heavy civil contractor in the Charlotte area is hiring an Estimator to join their growing team. If you have 3+ years of estimating experience and can read civil plans like a blueprint, this is a solid opportunity to own the estimate process from scope review through bid delivery.
What you will run
- Take-offs and quantity calculations on heavy civil projects, then build cost estimates that win work.
- Bid pricing coordination with material suppliers and subcontractors, keeping vendors organized and responsive.
- Scope review and plan reading to understand project requirements and identify cost drivers.
- Ongoing communication with trade partners, internal teams, and customers on new and active projects.
- Estimate delivery on schedule, every time, with attention to detail that protects margin.
What it takes
- 3+ years in construction estimating, preferably heavy civil or site work.
- Ability to read and interpret civil plans and develop accurate cost estimates.
- Strong grasp of construction processes, sequencing, and cost drivers.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Estimating software experience is a plus.
- Multi-tasking ability and discipline to hit tight deadlines without cutting corners.
- Problem-solving mindset and vendor management skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Preferred: AAS in Construction Engineering Technology, BS in Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field.
