Amundson Group
A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring Project Managers to lead large-scale infrastructure projects across Arizona and beyond. If you have 5+ years in heavy civil construction and want to run your own projects with real autonomy, this is a fast-track opportunity.
What You Will Run
You will start as a Senior Project Engineer managing key scopes on major roadway, concrete, earthwork, and infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities include coordinating field teams and subcontractors, managing RFIs and submittals, tracking budgets and schedules, and ensuring quality control. As you prove yourself, you will transition into full Project Manager roles where you own project planning, financial performance, subcontractor management, and delivery from preconstruction through closeout.
This is not a static title. High performers take on increasing responsibility quickly and can move into independent project ownership based on demonstrated capability.
What It Takes
- 5 to 8 years of heavy civil construction experience (earthwork, roadway, concrete, or infrastructure)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
- Strong preference for DOT experience and familiarity with state transportation departments
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, field-driven environments
- Ownership mentality, accountability, and hands-on problem solving
- Willingness to travel and relocate for project assignments
Candidates from heavy civil contractors, large-scale infrastructure backgrounds, or specialized scopes like paving and utilities are ideal. Adjacent backgrounds will be considered if skills translate.
Where You Will Work
Work is project-driven and mobile. Primary locations include Arizona (Phoenix, Tucson, Lake Havasu) with assignments across U.S. project sites. Travel and relocation are required. The company provides per diem (approximately $120 per day for domestic travel), company-paid temporary housing, and relocation assistance. You can choose flexible arrangements: housing covered with reduced per diem, or full per diem for self-managed housing.
Comp and Benefits
- Senior Project Engineer: $100K to $120K base, depending on experience
- Project Manager: $120K to $150K, based on experience and responsibility level
- Per diem and company-paid temporary housing on project assignments
- Relocation assistance available
The Opportunity
This company is fast-growing with immediate staffing needs across multiple active projects. They promote a performance-based advancement model where proven performers run portions of projects independently, transition into Project Manager roles quickly, and take full ownership once capable. Leadership emphasizes autonomy over micromanagement. If you want accelerated career growth and the chance to own major infrastructure projects, apply now.
