Our client, an ENR Top 400 self-performing contractor specializing in water treatment and wastewater treatment plant construction, is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support multiple projects across their Civil and Environmental Division. This is a hands-on role for someone with real water treatment experience who can manage $5M+ contracts and grow into larger responsibilities.

What You Will Run

You will provide direct management support to project teams, handling schedule creation and updates, budget development, and day-to-day coordination with subcontractors and the owner’s engineer. You will own the financial side: forecasting, cost analysis, change order preparation, and invoice processing. You will also manage submittals, material procurement, and equipment delivery to keep projects on track and within budget.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6 or similar software
  • Develop project budgets and prepare accurate forecasting at all times
  • Prepare and submit change orders, handle cost analysis for extra work
  • Review labor reports and advise on crew sizing, production rates, and equipment needs
  • Manage all submittals, material certifications, and vendor documentation
  • Process invoices from subcontractors, material suppliers, and vendors
  • Maintain project files, current drawings, and production records
  • Coordinate with owners and engineers on scope changes and project requirements
  • Monitor job site safety and support a positive subcontractor culture

What It Takes

  • Minimum 5 years of construction experience with water treatment or wastewater treatment plant projects
  • 4-year engineering degree or equivalent
  • Proven ability to manage $5M+ contracts
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 or similar project management software
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid, non-restrictive driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a drug test and be legally eligible to work in the US
