Foreman, Welding/ Fabrication

A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring an experienced Foreman to lead welding and fabrication crews on infrastructure projects across Texas. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage crews, drive production schedules, and ensure every weld meets code and spec. Project-based travel is part of the role.

What You Will Run

  • Lead and supervise welding and fabrication crews in the field
  • Plan daily work activities, prioritize tasks, and keep projects on schedule
  • Perform and oversee structural steel welding, fabrication, repairs, and field modifications
  • Read blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
  • Inspect welds and completed work to ensure quality and AWS/ASME compliance
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors as needed
  • Maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumable inventory
  • Mentor welders and crew members through training and coaching
  • Complete daily reports, production tracking, and equipment logs
  • Communicate project progress, concerns, and resource needs to management

What It Takes

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of welding and fabrication experience in heavy civil, industrial, structural steel, or construction
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or foreman experience
  • AWS Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and welding symbols
  • Working knowledge of AWS, ASME, and applicable industry standards
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
