A self-performing heavy civil contractor is hiring an experienced Foreman to lead welding and fabrication crews on infrastructure projects across Texas. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage crews, drive production schedules, and ensure every weld meets code and spec. Project-based travel is part of the role.
What You Will Run
- Lead and supervise welding and fabrication crews in the field
- Plan daily work activities, prioritize tasks, and keep projects on schedule
- Perform and oversee structural steel welding, fabrication, repairs, and field modifications
- Read blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols, and project specifications
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce OSHA regulations and company safety policies
- Inspect welds and completed work to ensure quality and AWS/ASME compliance
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors as needed
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and consumable inventory
- Mentor welders and crew members through training and coaching
- Complete daily reports, production tracking, and equipment logs
- Communicate project progress, concerns, and resource needs to management
What It Takes
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of welding and fabrication experience in heavy civil, industrial, structural steel, or construction
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or foreman experience
- AWS Certification or equivalent preferred
- Strong hands-on knowledge of MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Cored welding
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and welding symbols
- Working knowledge of AWS, ASME, and applicable industry standards
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
