A self-performing contractor in the private development wet utility space is hiring an experienced Wet Utility Estimator to join their estimating team in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is a plug-and-play role for someone with a solid foundation in wet utility estimating who can contribute immediately and help drive the company’s growth through increased bid capacity and improved margins.
What You Will Run
- Develop detailed, accurate wet utility estimates for private development projects including multifamily, commercial, and retail sectors
- Perform on-screen quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and/or PlanSwift
- Build and manage bid documents, cost analyses, and pricing models in Microsoft Excel
- Manage bids ranging from approximately $50,000 to $6-7 million, with average project value around $1.08-$1.09 million
- Participate in a collaborative, multi-review bid process where all estimates receive a minimum of two to three sets of eyes before submission
- Communicate any errors, discrepancies, or concerns to the team immediately for group problem-solving and cost mitigation
- Work closely with the Director of Estimating and senior leadership throughout the bidding process
- Support the team’s capacity to pursue and win additional work in alignment with company growth goals
What It Takes
- Minimum 3-5 years of wet utility estimating experience (exceptional candidates outside this range will be considered)
- Private development wet utility experience required, specifically in multifamily, commercial, and/or retail sectors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel as a core estimating tool
- Hands-on experience with Bluebeam and/or PlanSwift
- Strong knowledge of wet utility systems, materials, methods, and installation processes
- Stable work history demonstrating long-term commitment and loyalty
- Team-first mentality with radical honesty and transparency
- Willingness to have your work reviewed, questioned, and improved upon without ego
- Ability to surface mistakes quickly so the team can solve them together

Our client is a growing, employee-owned utility contracting company in year six of its ESOP structure. The company operates in the private development wet utility space and maintains a collaborative, open-door culture where employees at all levels have direct access to senior leadership. The Role
Full-time, permanent position reporting to the Director of Estimating. On-site required in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Target start date within 4-6 weeks of offer acceptance.
This is not a training or entry-level position. The successful candidate must arrive with a solid foundation in wet utility estimating and be ready to contribute immediately.
