The Role
A self-performing heavy civil contractor in Southwest Florida is hiring a seasoned Project Manager to own complex projects from preconstruction through closeout. This is a direct-hire, permanent role reporting to leadership, ideal for someone with deep experience in underground utilities, earthwork, and site development who wants to make an immediate impact in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
What You Will Run
- Full project lifecycle management: underground utilities (storm, sanitary, water), mass excavation, and site development
- Budget oversight, schedule management, and subcontractor coordination
- Preconstruction activities including bid review, scope buy-out, and vendor procurement
- Cost tracking, change orders, and monthly billing and pay applications
- Schedule development and early identification of risk mitigation strategies
- Compliance with plans, specs, permits, and safety standards across all phases
- Direct client communication and stakeholder management with owners, engineers, inspectors, and municipal agencies
- Support on estimating for new bids and business development as needed
What It Takes
- 5 to 15+ years of heavy civil construction project management experience
- Proven track record managing underground utilities, earthwork, and site development projects
- Florida project experience strongly preferred, including FDOT and county/municipal work
- Solid grasp of subcontractor management, change order processes, and project financials
- Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar PM tools
- Strong communication skills and comfort interfacing directly with owners and inspectors
- Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred; equivalent field experience considered
