## Field Mechanic

A self-performing construction contractor in the Rock Hill area is hiring an experienced Field Mechanic to join their operations team. This is hands-on, field-based work maintaining and repairing heavy equipment in active service. If you have diesel and hydraulics experience and want steady work with a established contractor, this role is worth your attention.

## What you will run

You’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a fleet of heavy construction equipment including asphalt pavers, milling machines, motor graders, and related machinery. Your responsibilities include:

- Diagnosing and correcting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems on diesel and gasoline-powered equipment
- Welding and fabricating as needed
- Performing adjustments and repairs to engine, transmission, drivetrain, and mechanical systems
- Using hand tools, power tools, precision mechanic tools, grinders, welders, and hoist equipment
- Communicating repair status to the Shop Foreman and maintaining accurate records in company software
- Maintaining a safe, clean work environment

You’ll receive a service truck and work a field-based schedule. Summer hours run 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Winter hours are 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. You must be willing to travel within a one to one-and-a-half hour radius of Rock Hill and pull night shifts as needed.

## What it takes

- Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment mechanics experience with diesel and hydraulics
- Your own tools (you’ll also have access to shop equipment)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet company MVR requirements
- Flexibility to work days, nights, or weekends as scheduled
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience in the asphalt industry is a plus

You’ll pass a drug test and background check as part of the hiring process.

## Comp and benefits

The company offers standard benefits including five days of PTO annually, plus time off between Christmas and New Year’s. Benefits eligibility begins the first of the month after 30 days of employment.
