## The Role

A self-performing heavy civil contractor is building out their estimating team in North Carolina and looking for an Estimator to join a growing operation. This is a chance to work on meaningful infrastructure projects, roads, bridges, water treatment plants, and utilities across the Southeast while learning from a structured, mentorship-driven team.

## What You Will Run

- Read plans and specifications to understand project scope and build takeoffs using Agtek or Trimble software
- Perform quantity takeoffs and enter data into Excel, then transition into HCSS Heavy Bid for pricing and bid development
- Work within a 3-person estimating group, typically handling 2-3 estimates at once
- Review documents in Bluebeam and participate in bid closing meetings
- Interface with scheduling, proposal, and project teams to refine estimates and support bid strategy
- Attend training sessions and pursuit prep modules as part of ongoing professional development

## What It Takes

- 3 to 10 years of estimating experience in heavy civil work (roads, bridges, utilities, water treatment)
- 2 to 3 years in project engineering or project management roles is a strong plus
- Proficiency with Agtek or Trimble, Bluebeam, Excel, and HCSS Heavy Bid
- Solid understanding of estimating process, project build-up, and cost analysis
- Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred but not required
- Field experience as a PE, FE, or field hand is valued
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to company processes with full onboarding support
- Commitment to growth and cultural fit beyond just the paycheck

The company is expanding aggressively, with plans to grow the estimating team to 5 members in this office. You will have clear advancement into a Senior Estimator role based on performance and fit. You will gain exposure to large-scale civil projects across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Connecticut, and Georgia. Strong mentorship and group estimating structure support your development from day one.

## Comp and Benefits

Salary range: $90,000 to $110,000 per year, based on experience. The company offers an ESOP program and a competitive benefits package. Office-based role in Shelby, North Carolina, off I-40, with some work-from-home flexibility.
