Look for accurate quantity takeoffs across plans, specs, RFIs, and addenda, because scope misses kill bids. Confirm bid-leveling discipline and active subcontractor outreach. Check fluency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, ProEst, or Sage. Prioritize sector experience that matches your work, whether heavy civil, site development, data center, rail, tunnels, or wastewater, because cost assumptions vary significantly across those sectors.
