Entry-level construction project manager roles are typically titled Assistant Project Manager or Project Engineer. Most employers in heavy civil, site development, data center, rail, tunnel, and wastewater construction want a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, plus zero to two years of relevant experience. Internships, field time, or a graduate position all count. Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project helps, as does a working knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, and site safety. An OSHA 10-Hour certification strengthens your profile.
