# What Does an Entry-level Construction Project Manager Job Actually Look Like, and What Should I Expect to Earn?

True entry-level PM roles in construction are usually titled Assistant PM or Project Engineer rather than Project Manager. You will typically handle RFIs, submittals, schedule and cost tracking, change management support, and subcontractor coordination under a senior PM. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree and at least some field or office experience. Pay moves based on project size and complexity, sector (heavy civil, data center, and tunnel work tend to pay above lighter construction), years of experience, and whether the role requires travel. Useful tools to know include Procore, MS Project, Excel, and similar project management platforms.
