# What Does Amundson Group Look for When Vetting a Construction Estimator Candidate?

For senior-level estimator roles, Amundson Group confirms that candidates are true process estimators, meaning they build crews, calculate production rates, and derive cost-per-unit from first principles, rather than buyout estimators who price work intuitively. At the senior level, hands-on experience in HeavyBid or B2W is a hard requirement. Junior or assistant estimator candidates are evaluated differently, with a greater emphasis on trainability.
