# Should I Accept a Counteroffer From My Current Employer After Resigning?

Usually no. Most counteroffers address money, but the reasons people leave construction companies are more often about structure, growth path, project pipeline or being kept in the office when they want the field. A raise rarely fixes those, and the trust gap after a resignation tends to linger. Before you interview, decide what you would do if a counteroffer came. If your honest answer is that you would stay, tell your recruiter early so neither side wastes time. If your concerns go beyond pay, treat the counteroffer as confirmation that you had to threaten to leave to be heard.
