# How Long Does It Take a Construction Contractor to Hire After a First Interview?

Hiring timelines vary by company and role, but many civil and general contractors operate on a two-to-three month timeline from first interview to start date. This is particularly common when the role involves project-based staffing needs tied to upcoming work. Candidates who have a preferred start date should communicate it early in the process so the employer can plan accordingly and both sides can align expectations around onboarding timing.
