# How Are Construction Recruiter Placement Fees Calculated?

Most contingency construction recruiting fees are a percentage of the hire's first-year base salary, due only when the candidate starts. Relocation reimbursement, truck allowances and sign-on bonuses are typically excluded from the fee calculation. Expect a signed agreement before any resumes are submitted; it also defines candidate ownership, so there are no disputes if the person applied directly or came through another source.
